Monyati is an abaya fashion house who is set to open the Spring 09 edition of
Dubai Fashion Week on October 6th. This is what they say about themselves:
"Monyati prides its collection as a signature collection bringing together aspects of the diverse culture seen in the UAE today, and aims to highlight and promote the UAE as a true capital of fashion and talent. The seasonal collection is inspired by a fusion of national and international catwalk trends."
Their website is yet to be launched, but here's a preview of what to expect. I'm loving the kimono-style abayas:
Effa Al Dabbagh is a Saudi designer, based in Dubai. She actually studied here in the UK at The Surrey Institute of Art and Design. She launched her brand, Effa in Spring 2006, and the website went live just yesterday. The collection includes abayas as well as hijab and non-hijab clothing, and the latter are what I find more interesting.
