Fall 2009Possibly the most modest and hijab-friendly Fall '09 collection came courtesty of Giambattista Valli. His collection especially included plenty of maxi length coats, a great alternative to abayas when outdoors:
Maxi Coats There were also plenty of full-length gowns, where Valli kept the focus on cut rather than embellishment. I love the ruching effect on the dresses - a cleaver way to conceal curves. Peacock prints and feathers were another theme running through the collection, and several dresses came complete with with long cloaks, making them perfect for hijab, though personally I'd give the feathered one a miss!

Still using a peacock-themed colour pallate, Valli also showcased a couple of mid-sleeved brocade maxi dresses in abstract metallic prints:
