A 26-year-old Kuwaiti man was sentenced to jail for sending tweets that insulted Islam.
Hamad Al-Naqi was sentenced to 10 years for sending tweets that “endangered state security” by insulting the Prophet Muhammad, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
Naqi, a Shiite, was accused of creating sectarian tensions, and Sunnis gathered to protest after he was taken into custody.
Naqi argues his account was hacked, and his lawyer said he can appeal.
