So far, Hijab Style has profiled a range of influential Muslim women, from
athletes to
authors to
actresses.
Famile Arslan is a Muslimah of Turkish origin, and the first lawyer to wear a hijab in the Netherlands. She is also the founder and president of
Arslan Lawyers in The Hague. Speaking to
TIME Magazine of her first day at work she says:
"'The cleaning supplies are over there,'" Arslan recalls being told. "I had to say, 'No, I'm not the cleaner. I'm the lawyer.'"Apart from her job at her law firm, Famile is deeply involved in several projects and initiatives for the betterment of the Dutch Muslim community, including being a member of the board of the Islam and Citizenship Foundation, and setting up the National Muslim Women’s Network.
