Kasim Hafeez grew up in a close Pakistani Muslim neighborhood in Nottingham, England. He says he was raised to be skeptical of Jews and to disdain the Jewish state.
As an adult, Hafeez read Alan Dershowitz’s “The Case for Israel” with the intention of blowing it off — instead, he found his preconceptions altered.
“When I pulled myself together, I realized that the only way to resolve my questions would be to travel to Israel,” he said.
Hafeez has since spoken openly about his trip and his changed feelings towards Israel, blaming the UK for sensationalizing and demonizing Jews while applauding the Jewish state.
“I don’t feel my story is that unusual. It’s just my life,” he said.
